Thank you for your interest in joining the AAEYC Conference Committee!
Anchorage Association for the Education of Young Children (AAEYC) is an Alaskan affiliate formed under the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC was founded in 1926 with Anchorage organizing an affiliate in December 1970. AAEYC promotes quality care and education for young children and their families by offering professional development opportunities to early childhood educators and by supporting families and those who have a vested interested in the young children of our community. In addition, AAEYC participates in the development of standards which strive to ensure high quality programs for young children. AAEYC supports advocacy by disseminating information about public policies and pending legislation and interpreting issues and alternatives at the local, state, and national level. AAEYC collaborates with community members, organizations, and agencies to meet the needs of young children and their families.
AAEYC hosts an annual conference to support Alaska’s early education providers. The conference is a 2-3 day in person event held in Anchorage, typically in the spring time. The conference’s goal is to provide education, information, and networking opportunities to providers from across the state.
The AAEYC conference is planned with the Executive Director and the Conference Committee. Planning typically begins in the late summer or early fall. The Conference Committee meets monthly via zoom to discuss keynote speakers, conference themes, breakout sessions, and additional offerings.
Prospective committee members should complete the application linked below. Applications will be reviewed with the current committee at monthly meetings. Once reviewed, AAEYC’s Executive Director or the Conference Chair will contact selected applicants.
